Mount Vernon Chiropractor, Dr. John Jarolimek

Dr. John Jarolimek

For many years I've been interested in natural approaches to health. Initially, it was through a vegetarian/macrobiotic diet, yoga and meditation. I was living in the Seattle area and had enjoyed teaching elementary school, but after several years my interests had changed.

My brother, who had gotten incredible results from chiropractic care for chronic ear and sinus infections, was attending chiropractic college. After talking to him, I knew chiropractic was a good fit for me, too. The moment of truth for me came when he made a comment about being able to use different approaches, or techniques, in chiropractic--that there were a variety of ways in which to practice. That was the deciding factor.

I received a B.A. from Central Washington University, and my Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University in Marietta, Georgia, where I graduated Cum Laude. I chose Life University because of its strong philosophical roots, as well as having a curriculum that emphasized early clinical experience with patients. After graduation, I joined my brother in practice in Honolulu, Hawaii, where I practiced for several years. I really enjoyed living and practicing in Hawaii, so it was a difficult decision to leave after 15 years, but my wife, Laurie, and I felt the pull to move back to Mainland, mostly to be closer to our families and our "roots".

I believe health and healing are basically an inside-out process. I'm not putting anything into or taking anything out of the body.

My job is to help identify the causes, or barriers, that interfere with the best function possible for that person, and then make suggestions and recommendations about how to remove those barriers to health and optimum function. I see myself as a kind of "Health Coach", or facilitator.

In addition to helping people with their health concerns and why they came to my office in the first place, I want every patient to gain a greater appreciation of the importance of their spine, spinal posture, motion and balance, and the key role these factors play in their overall health and longevity.

With 25 years of practice experience, I've gained a reputation for providing thorough, personalized care, designed to soothe your pain and get you back in action as quickly as possible. In addition to being very experienced in providing natural pain relief, other benefits of care include: Improved motion, balance and posture, as well as less tension in the body. As part of your care, I'll show you some simple and effective exercises that will help stabilize and strengthen your spine and body, so you'll not only feel better, but you'll stand taller and move better.

The other area of emphasis in my practice is: Extremity Adjusting, i.e., treatment of shoulder, wrist, hip, knee and foot problems, etc., using adjusting/manipulation techniques.

I met my wife, Laurie, while I was living in Georgia, attending chiropractic college. I have two sons and a daughter, all adults. I enjoy walking, hiking and day-trips with Laurie and our two dogs, around this beautiful area we live in. I've always been a music fan, and listen to a variety of artists and styles.

The healthiest things I do on a daily basis are: My first-thing-in-the-morning Greens First drink (loaded with antioxidants and other nutrients), take a multivitamin, omega-3 oil and extra vitamin D. I try to practice what I preach by doing posture and core strengthening exercises daily, walking--with a little running mixed in for variety--and regularly getting adjusted. Quiet time for reading and counting my blessings is important to me, and I enjoy taking time to hang-out with Laurie and our youngest son, Colin, who still lives with us.

Enough about me! How can we help you with today's safe and natural chiropractic care? Give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.

What's the difference between chiropractic and medicine?
Medical treatment focuses on the disease or the symptom. Chiropractic focuses on the person with the disease or the symptom. Medical treatment usually involves changing blood chemistry. Chiropractic involves restoring nervous system integrity. Medical doctors prescribe medicine. Chiropractors adjust the spine—a common source of nervous system interference.
Can a chiropractor heal?
There's never been a case in which a doctor (chiropractor or otherwise) has formed scar tissue, mended a broken bone or cured a headache. Only you can do that. Turns out you're the doctor!
